Mixed Week of Results for U23s

23rd March 2018

ITFC’s Under 23s defeated Birmingham City 1-0 at St. Andrews yesterday afternoon (Thursday 22nd March) in Professional Development League 2. Ben Morris, fresh from making his first and second senior league appearances against Hull City and Bristol City respectively last week, grabbed the only goal from the penalty spot.

Three days earlier (Monday 19th March), the U23s hosted Leeds United in the same competition under the Portman Road floodlights. Despite a brace from Aaron Drinan, however, the young Blues fell to a 3-2 defeat. The match report can be found here:

In other U23s news, it has been confirmed that Sheffield United qualified for the next round of the Premier League Cup at Town’s expense. In last week’s rearranged fixture, the Blades lost 1-0 to group winners Aston Villa but this did not result in the ‘Goal Difference’ swing that would have been required for the Blues to take second spot.
