Armando Dobra struck twice for Town’s Under 23s on Tuesday afternoon (26th January), but local rivals Colchester struck back for a share of the spoils with a stoppage time equaliser.

The Essex visitors went ahead in the 22nd minute at Playford Road, before a goal in each half from Dobra helped Ipswich to come from behind and lead 2-1 after 90 minutes. A fourth consecutive win was not to be for the Blues, however, as the U’s equalised in the first minute of added time and the match finished 2-2.

The result extended Town’s unbeaten run to four games. Following Bristol City’s 3-1 win away to Swansea City, however, Town now find themselves in second place in the Professional Development League South table. The Under 23s’ next scheduled fixture is away to Cardiff City on Tuesday (2nd February, 1.00pm kick-off).

Town Line-up vs Colchester United (Tue 26/01/2021): White, Crowe, Andoh, McGavin, Smith, Gibbs, Lankester, El Mizouni, Crane, Simpson, Dobra. Subs: Ridd, Healy, K Brown, Z Brown, Oppong.
