A young Ipswich Town Under 23s side fell to a 4-1 away league defeat against Hull City on Monday evening (22nd March 2021).

Kieron Dyer’s side travelled north to face the Tigers at the LNER Community Stadium, which is the new home of York City. The Town side had a generally youthful look to it, with Tristan Nydam the most experienced member of the starting line-up as he continued his return from long-term injury.

Hull made a fast start to the game, scoring in the 17th and 38th minutes to carry a 2-0 lead into the half-time break. The home side added further strikes on 64′ and 77′, before a Hull trialist diverted the ball into his own net on 83 minutes to provide Town with a late consolation.

Next up for Town’s Under 23s is another away Professional Development League Two¬†fixture, at Charlton Athletic on Monday afternoon (29th March). After that, the Blues will host back-to-back games at Playford Road against Bristol City (Tuesday 6th April) and Barnsley (Tuesday 13th April).
