Four days after their weekend FA Youth Cup win at Middlesbrough, Town’s Under 18s won their league game at Wigan Athletic on Wednesday (14th April 2021) thanks to goals from Cameron Humphreys, Cameron Stewart and Ola Bello.

Adem Atay’s side faced a tough task in the North-West, as the Latics had only lost one league game this season before the visit of the young Blues. Boosted by their cup heroics of Saturday, however, Town sprinted out of the blocks and were two goals to the good within a quarter of an hour (Humphreys 2′, Stewart 15′). Despite an improved second half showing from the home side (with goals on 52′ and 77′), however, Town triumphed 3-2 with substitute Bello’s strike on 64 minutes turning out to be the winner. With this win, Town strengthened their hold on second place in the Professional Development League South table.

Town line-up: Ridd, Wyss (Chirewa 29′), Armin, Bradshaw, Stewart, Agbaje, Humphreys, Cutbush, Alexander (c), Ward (Stephenson 87′), Buabo (Bello 54′). Unused subs: Catley, Nwabueze
