ACADEMY & WOMEN’S PROGRAMME: RESULTS ROUND-UP

Our Under 18s’ FA Youth Cup Quarter-Final victory understandably grabbed the headlines over the past few days, but a number of other fixtures have also taken place across the Academy and Women’s Programme since our last news stories were published. Here is a summary:

As well as the dramatic cup win, Adem Atay and Jason Dozzell’s young Blues have had several league matches over the past week-and-a-half. Town have secured a second-placed finish regardless of the remaining results, thus qualifying for the end-of-season play-offs. The opposition for the play-offs is yet to be decided, although the most likely is Wigan Athletic who sit top of the Northern section at the time of writing.

Town’s Under 23s, led by Kieron Dyer and Terry Butcher, has mirrored the Under 18s’ achievement of reaching the post-season play-offs via a second-placed league finish. Their opponents will be Sheffield United on a date to be confirmed:

WOMEN’S FIRST-TEAM

After defeat at Billericay Town (1-2) in the Women’s FA Cup on 4th April, following the in-house friendly against the Academy (mentioned above) on 11th April and ahead of the away friendly at Southampton (1-4, https://www.itfc-academy.com/2021/04/26/itfc-women-town-debut-new-sponsor-at-saint-marys/) on 25th April, our Women’s First-Team also hosted Portsmouth at Playford Road recently:

The next Women’s 1st Team game is a behind-closed-doors friendly at home to Nottingham Forest (of the third Tier) on Sunday 16th May.
