We were delighted and grateful to receive a cheque for £950 from ITFC Women’s Supporters Group earlier this month. Below, Ian Wallis from ITFC WSG explains how the group was established, how the fundraising efforts came about and mentions their plans for next season:

“It all started on a return trip on 1 December 2019, following a dominant display against the then-named Chichester City in the Women’s FA Cup.
Discussions were around how to increase awareness of the women’s game and how to make it easier for supporters to organise and travel in greater numbers. This was as a result of a failed attempt to hire a coach for this match. Realistically it was always going to be a challenge as the men’s team were playing Coventry on the same day, however it also became apparent that there was no platform for communication and so the idea of a Facebook group arose.

With its launch later that month, another branch of the ever-growing football family of Ipswich Town FC Women supporters was born. Our intention was to complement the work started by TGOT and to bring together supporters who could communicate and exchange information in a private environment. Later on,the family was joined by Queens of Anglia, who contributed with their stocking fillers at Christmas but mainly focused their attention on player contact producing many interviews, match previews and reviews.

From our initial Facebook page and subsequent Twitter account, we organised the supporter coaches to the memorable FA Cup games against Huddersfield and Manchester City in early 2020. After the null and void 2019/20 season we decided to collectively sponsor two players, Eloise King and Anna Grey, and to actively start raising funds for the benefit of Ipswich Town FC Women.

Our own website was created,, and a point of sale, in addition to matches, for the merchandise we bought to raise funds. There are many more items in the pipeline that would have been added were it not for the curtailment of a second season. Finally, a raffle was organised and despite the lack of matches many tickets were sold online.

Thanks to all of you who got involved in our fundraising, whether it was purchasing raffle tickets or merchandise, as well as to the players and staff who helped spread the word. It has all contributed to raise a grand total of £950. We were proud to fulfil our promise and hand over a cheque to Ipswich Town FC Women on Friday 18 June.

With the application for upward movement confirmed. we are now planning coaches for the many longer away trips in the coming season. If you’re interested in joining us, join our Facebook group and register your interest.”

Our thanks go to everyone ITFC WSG, as well as everybody else, for their kind and generous support. We look forward to seeing you all for the 2021-22 season!
